49 GMA500 patches published and due to be included in 3.1:

I tried booting with nouveau on my new GeForce GTX 560 TI System recently and had it freeze hard. Only removing nouveau made it "usable" again.

So if Linux 3.1 contains improvements for nouveau this might be very important to keep in mind!

Seriously citing phoronix about future speculations?
I could give you tons of phoronix articles going untrue ...

Every kernel brings many new features - and we have to make a cut at some point. There's no gurantee that 3.1 will be available in time. I suggest you talk directly on the opensuse-kernel mailing list once 3.0 is out with the kernel developers. For now I reject this.

Seems it will become true:

(= devel project for Factory kernel)

(no branch named 'openSUSE-12.1')

Please ask on kernel@opensuse.org mailinglist for the actual plans.

Indeed, Jeff Mahoney just said they plan to go for 3.1.
