i don't want it to be the default suite, but I absolutely do want to see Koffice 2.3 included in opensuse 11.4.

Koffice is included in openSUSE trough KDE, so anyone can install it and use. I'm KDE user, but integration is not my concern when software lack essential functionality as in Jos comment.

Please explain why and how koffice is better than LibreOffice.  A better integration into KDE isn't a general advantage to Linux users.  It's about features and to make the switch from non OSS products as easy as possible.

I don't think that's a great idea, unless something really changes on the KOffice side. While an app like Krita is far ahead of anything else (if only because there are no real competitors), KWord, KSpread and KPresenter have one very serious issue: they are not as good in reading MS (old)word docs as openOffice. And that ability is crucial to have.

Besides, even if they were as good as Open/LibreOffice in that area, they still would lack quite a few of the capabilities the more advanced Office users would expect (and are needed for properly reading many of the more complicated MS documents).

On the other hand, for basic use, yes, KOffice is probably as good if not superior to Open/LibreOffice - it is still much faster, a bit easier to use and as you say better integrated. But the downside esp in the area of MS doc formats is for me reason to vote against this for now (docx support, btw, is excellent due to Nokia investing in that).

Maybe 2.5 or 2.6 ;-)
