What exactly are you missing in our partitioner?

OpenSUSE Linux that can have these features:

  • Format internal and external hard drives.
  • Move, copy, create, delete, expand & shrink hard drive partitions.
  • Clone your hard drive, to create a full backup.
  • Test hard drives for impending failure.
  • Test memory for bad sectors.
  • Benchmark your computer for a performace rating.
  • Securely erase your entire hard drive, wiping it clean from all data.

Just a few comments:
* Formatting in the usual way is not needed, partitioning works in yast partitioner
* expand and shrink is part of yast partitioner
* backup solutions exist
* for hard drive testing, a framework exists
Tools exist for all of this, looking at parted magic I don't know what'S missing.

So, please make a specific request what's missing after investigation what we have.

End user support is available on forum. If you asked "How do I test my RAM?" there, very quickly someone would say "install memtest86+". There are also HOWTOs covering many topics, probably including drive cloning & secure wiping. Very often questions like this have already been answered so a search provides immediate answers.

Andreas Jaeger,

My suggestion is to do what Robert Davies said, more so, quick and easy, where anyone can do maintenance to the computer, with packages already installed on openSUSE Linux, as it is in Parted Magic, and in the case of Live -CD, use the feature to load the system from the RAM to free the driver CD and automatically eject the driver CD, a Live-CD or DVD installation, at the time of restart.
