Description

The primary user created by the installer should belong to groups
floppy and
cdrom .

User benefit:

it is hardly imaginable one would forbid oneself writing floppy disks.

Usecase

  • The user has created a document and she wants to transfer it to a floppy disk.
  • The user has two CD-ROM drives and she wants to access the other one.

Adding to groups is an anachronism. ConsoleKit should have added appropriate ACLs on login on /dev/sr #0 and such, like it does on /dev/snd/*.
