View list of files in not installed package

Feature state

Description

In YaST package manager it's possible to view list of files of package that is installed. But it's not possible for not installed ones.

This should be possible to do without downloading all packages, because lists of files are written in ARCHIVES.gz in YaST repos and repodata/filelists.xml.gz in YUM repos.

What's the benefit of this? Please explain why it's worth to do this.

it is needed when you search package by file name - and you do not want to install all packages that were found (sometimes 100+ hits) - only the one that you manually verify on the files list - and now it is not possible
