Option to "download only" rpm files in cache

Feature state

openSUSE Distribution
Rejected Information

In yast, there is the option when setting up software repositories to keep rpm files in cache after a software installation, it would be good to have too an option "Download only", with this option you will be able to get a program with all its dependencies ready to install later in a computer without internet without affecting the current system.

This option is available in ubuntu apt-get with the option -d

keeppackages=1 in /etc/zypp/repo.d/*, isn't it?

I don’t know if it is my bad English or I can not explain myself, but it is the second time that someone misunderstands a feature of mine, I am not talking about just keeping the files in a cache folder, that is already possible, check this out

it its also possible with the command zypper mr -ka

I am talking about a graphical Yast option (checkbox), not a command line option, to just download the files without installs them, that way you can get the program with all the dependencies without modifying your system, lets say you have a friend that needs a program but he doesn’t have internet at home, you have internet but don’t want the program installed in your system just to get the rpm files, you are a casual user so you don’t like very much the command line, that is where the Yast graphical checkbox option to “Download Only” become useful.

There already was a FATE item for that IIRC.

I think the commandline is perfectly fine for the type of user that wants to perform this task.

zypper install --download-only

Should do what is asked in this feature, but still it will not work for another system, as you can have package xyz installed, but your friend may need it.
