In previous Versions of Opensuse in KDE 3.x in Kicker there were buttons to start other OS that were known to grub. Klicking one of these items, grub bootet directly into that system. Since kde4 people like me, who boot to suse by default, have to wait for shutdown and the grub menu, otherwise booting into suse again.

There's a drop-down menu in the reboot confirmation window. It features OS selection.

Actually I tried hard to find that drop down menu. Since this menu is so small it shouldn't be hard to find. Perhaps its just not working for me.

I had the same problem, but the solution is simple: you have to tell KDE that you use GRUB, so that it can read the menu.lst file and offer you the bootable OS's. The configuration is from Personal Settings -> Login Screen -> Shutdown. There is an option to choose the Boot-Manager (it should be empty in your case). Choose GRUB, logout, login et voila!
