Reducing power consumption

Feature state

openSUSE Distribution
Done

Description

It is time for (SUSE) Linux to go green and to extend battery lifetime of laptops. I discovered these patches [1] some times ago, are they all implemented? Please do a lot more progress in powersaving! This is a general request for future releases of any kind (update, package, distribution upgrade, ...)

kind regards,

Quentin

i wouldn't say they need to go green, but i definitely give a thumbs up for longer battery life for laptops.

A yast or KCM (Kde control panel) will make it very easy for users.

openSUSE now installs tlp on laptops by default, and updates to the Linux kernel and CPU governor logic have improved laptop battery life significantly.
