Backport X-Fi support into Factory kernel

Feature state

openSUSE-11.2
Done

Description

Could you please backport the x-fi alsa module into the factory kernel.  People have been waiting far to long for this support and it would be ashame to not have it tested extensively in the early stages of 11.2 development.

The work is relatively easy, less than a half-day.
We need just to backport straight from the latest ALSA tree.

How i can check the availability of this module?

The modules are automatically loaded without doing anything at boot-up. Check /proc/asound/cards entries.

There is still a known bug that yast2 sound module doesn't detect these boards. It'll be fixed (hopefully) soon.

Takashi, is it possible to test this feature without having x-fi sound card?
