I agree that SaX2 needs some TLC. Support for more then one card is badly needed in a day and age where multicard setups are pretty common. I would also like to see better multimedia keyboard support and as well as the possiblity of binding extra buttons right within sax on a mouse. Sometimes there is support for a keyboard but the supporting libraries are not built by the suse team (ie the G15 but no official g15daemon package which is required).

Yes, mapping extra mouse buttons via sax or something else is really needed. Maybe this should be new feature request?

YaST/SAX has not special features for track pads (en-/disable tap click etc.)

I've documented some useful Xorg.conf modifications for the Logitech G5/G7 mouse.

Unfortunately evdev has huge issues with apps (noticably older games) that use SDL and even though being reported for almost a year goes unfixed.

Reason: we don't invest in sax, the Xorg project wants to work without any config with all hardware. And if there are still broken monitors out there that need special database entries - well, we better query smolts.org and look up fixmes. And do that independent of sax.

Unfortunately Xorg has no real interest in supporting non-free drivers going so far as rejecting a simple 4 line patch that would allow a config-less setup.  Reality vs Idealogy strikes again.
